Accounting Department and Fund Accounting Team Overview:

The Accounting Department is centralized at PEG Companies and serves the various departments across the organization. The Accounting Department is led by a Senior Controller who reports directly to the CFO. Various Controller, Assistant Controllers, and Treasury report to the Senior Controller and manage the different functions across the Accounting Department. The Fund Accounting Team is led by the Assistant Controller, Fund, and is a specialized team where the primary work revolves around the Fund Structures. These structures can include Closed/Open-Ended Funds, REITS, Co-Investments, and Joint Ventures. As such the Fund Accountant will interface with the Investment team (Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Asset Manager, and/or Analysts) regularly. The Fund Accounting team is innovative, solving problems, both macro and micro within the vertical structure. The primary functions that the Fund Accounting Team provides include:

  • Fund Structure Cost and Fair Value Close and Reporting
  • Investor Reporting
  • Manage the Tax and Audit services

Responsibilities:

This position will play a crucial role in Fund Accounting with responsibilities that include:

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and partner statements.
  • Work with asset managers, analysts, and other internal and external users to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP and other standards, where applicable, as they relate to investment companies, principles of consolidation and fair value measurement.
  • Interpret fund and investor governing documents to ensure proper application of terms for investor allocations, management fees and carried interest.
  • Drive continual process improvement through the use and implementation of technology.
  • Follow PEG policies and procedures and comply with state and federal laws.

Requirements:

  • Self-Starter
  • BA – Accounting, (Working towards a CPA preferred)
  • Accounting Experience preferred.
  • The ability to work with people from various backgrounds.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with online platforms (Asana, Outlook, Microsoft Teams…)
  • Analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and proficiency to do research on historical financial transactions and legal issues.
  • Organization & Critical thinking skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at desk.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard and tolerate prolonged periods performing work using a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
