CAPSA, a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse, and rape recovery center, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Prevention Educator. At CAPSA, we provide safe, caring, and confidential support services for women, men, and children impacted by abuse in Cache County and the Bear Lake area. Our mission is to empower survivors, offer shelter, advocacy, and support while reducing incidents of abuse through prevention education.


Position Overview: As a Prevention Educator, you will play a pivotal role in educating and empowering youth across Cache County by delivering impactful presentations and facilitating educational groups. This position provides a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young individuals and effect positive change within the community.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate educational groups and deliver presentations to youth in Elementary, Middle and High Schools and endorsed clubs.
  • Research and identify prevention curricula that best meet the community's needs, collaborating with the Prevention and Education Directors
  • Keep presentations and materials up to date and relevant for youth, ensuring the content reflects the latest research and addresses pertinent issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with teachers, administrators, extracurricular activity coordinators, and counselors at assigned middle and high schools.
  • Support organization, recruitment, and engagement among community members to form a sustainable coalition focused on sexual violence prevention education among youth in Cache and Rich counties.
  • Provide support for our strategic plan for the coalitions, creating awareness and driving community change through social campaigns and activities.
  • Support and engage with the CAPSA Youth Council in their development and leadership efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to support and utilize evaluation measures for programs, ensuring effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and expand training opportunities to enhance best practices and promote professional growth.
  • Track grant goals on a monthly/quarterly basis to ensure successful completion by the end of the grant year, reporting results to the Prevention and Education Director.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with youth and diverse audiences effectively.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, capable of delivering engaging and impactful educational sessions.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize your schedule, accommodating training requests and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and handle high-paced and potentially stressful environments.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse individuals to successfully complete projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Education, Communications, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years of relevant experience in teaching or training preferred, preferably with children aged 6-18.
  • Working towards or ability to earn CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) certificate within the first 6 month's of hire.
