Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary restrictions, ensuring high standards of taste and presentation.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Menu Planning: Assist in menu planning and development to provide a variety of appealing and nutritious meal options that meet residents' dietary needs.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory, including ordering and stocking of supplies, to ensure the kitchen is adequately stocked and organized.
  • Resident Interaction: Engage with residents to understand their dietary preferences and any special dietary needs or restrictions.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Food Handler’s Certificate or ServSafe certification required; additional certifications related to food safety or nutrition are beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong culinary skills with a focus on nutrition and presentation. Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks involving manual dexterity.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
