Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Linguist Specialist - Arabic Toponymist to join the Team


Supporting National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) providing Geospatial Intelligence for our nation’s security by providing Arabic linguistic skills and existing experience or education in analyzing Middle East issues. You will be working to discover, retrieve, and analyze source data; and apply expertise in evaluating & acquiring sources of data. Utilizing regional and subject matter expertise to provide information tailored to mission requirements. Additionally, you shall advise customers and management on collection issues, recommend options to improve collection, participate in current & future systems architecture development and new software tools evaluation.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Utilize Arabic linguistic skills and existing experience or education in analyzing Middle East issues.
  • Provide onsite and co-located research support to both the Analysis and Source Directorate analysts from multiple locations.
  • Develop and execute open-source research plans in accordance with NGA methodologies utilizing multiple databases and resources
  • Evaluate sources gathered against requirements, deliver information in prescribed formats, and disseminate to/though appropriate mechanisms.
  • Participate and collaborate in/through cross-agency forums.
  • Conduct product research.
  • Provide proactive research updates to websites, (e.g. lntellipedia) and other sites used by Research Center customers.
Requirements:
  • Experience using Arabic at a DLPT IV (or equivalency) tested reading/listening of 2/2 or above.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting open-source data collection, evaluation, and dissemination.
  • Demonstrated experience applying knowledge and quickly developing new knowledge of emerging technologies regarding open source (i.e., social media, deep web searches, big data analysis and bulk data harvesting)
  • Experience representing an office or organization to internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience applying critical and spatial thinking skills to develop and execute effective research plans.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with teammates, mission partners, or senior leadership, verbally or in sign language, in writing and through demonstration of GEOINT techniques, methodologies, concepts, or processes.
  • Experience providing Customer Service



Desired:

  • Experience using Arabic at a DLPT IV (or equivalency) tested reading/listening of 3/3.
  • Knowledge of DoD and Intelligence Community Missions
  • Demonstrated experience planning, prioritizing, and managing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated experience using geospatial technologies (ArcGIS, Google Earth, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience creating intelligence products supporting mission requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience using DoD/IC databases and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and sustaining inter-organizational mission partnerships or relationships across NGA, the Intelligence Community, and/or DOD
  • GEOINT database knowledge (commercial databases)
  • Familiarity with ESRI suite of products
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge
  • Adobe Acrobat knowledge
  • Familiarity with the TCPED process
