Summary of the Position:

The Field Engineering department oversees product performance in the field and utilizes that knowledge to provide engineering support to customers, the YOHTA sales department, the tire design engineers, and manufacturing personnel based at YOHTA’s global affiliates. 50% of this role’s time is spent time visiting customer locations (Aftermarket and OE) within the US to understand how YOHTA products are being utilized and how they are performing. The other 50% of their time is spent planning field evaluations, analyzing claim and test data, reporting, and providing technical support to internal and external customers (Aftermarket and OE) as well as coordinating all of the Quality reporting needs to support the OE team. This role will function independently with high level guidance from management. Strategic and technical oversight and leadership will be provided by the VP Marketing and product management functions for the YOHT Group.

The candidate filling the open position will focus on AG, OTR and/or TBR tires.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to field sales staff and customers in the USA
  • Plan, conduct, and report results of field investigations
  • Analyze test and claim data to convey tire performance to internal and external customers as appropriate
  • Identify opportunities for product improvement and advocate for changes
  • Support organization, planning, and conducting training sessions for sales and customers
  • Evaluate use and maintenance conditions to make product recommendations and/or recommendations regarding use and maintenance that will improve product performance
  • OE Quality Assurance administration of Non-Conforming materials (NCM)
    • Coordination the transportation of NCM’s from OE facility to designated inspection location – including tracking and documenting product at facility
    • Distribute final reports of NCM’s – root cause analysis/corrective action/monitoring reports and others as needed
    • Input data of findings on the designated OE ‘quality scorecard’ and all administrative needs of keeping the OE ‘quality scorecard’ up to date with
      • Statistical data
      • Required data inputs to system (PPM/Delivery data/other as directed)
  • Coordinate/facilitate warranty submissions from OE customers (dealers or end users)
  • Coordinate and direct the timely preparation of quality documents for final project approval based on customer schedules. Examples include initial sample inspection reports, failure modes and effects analyses, and production part approval process documents
  • Assist YOHTA OE account managers and Central OE technical team in the selection of tires and wheels for new projects, preparation/creation of data sheets and drawings for OE customers
  • Review and approval of engineering product release documents for new products.
  • Other Quality related duties for reporting and coordination of OE activities – such as assistance in review and input of data for OE assemblies, retrieval and review of data from the Product Management system, SAP, etc.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Mechanical and technical aptitude with ‘hands on’ capabilities
  • Customer service oriented
  • Background with commercial vehicles and/or tire products or auto industry is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication
  • Data driven, detail oriented, self-motivated, organized.

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in engineering, math, or science preferred but experience in similar field may be acceptable
  • 3-5+ years of relevant field engineering experience
  • Ability to travel 50%
  • Ability to physically manipulate heavy tires, cut tires for analysis, handle large sections of cut tires, manipulate tire and wheel assemblies, and proficiency in utilizing tools and relevant equipment.
