Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Java Web applications using the Spring Framework and Hibernate.
  • Design, implement, and support RESTful web services and Web APIs.
  • Manage and utilize in-memory data stores, such as Redis, for optimized data processing.
  • Oversee clinical and biospecimen data management processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Perform reverse engineering and refactoring of existing code to improve performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enhance user interfaces and site navigation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal security, privacy, and Section 508 requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Utilize tools such as CVS, SVN, Jira, and Confluence for source code management and application deployment.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and data visualization using tools like Python, R, and Tableau.
  • Provide technical support and customer service, addressing and resolving application issues efficiently.
  • Participate in the clinical research document review process and integrate bio specimen barcode systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to present technical information and project updates.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of system development and support processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with eight years of Java Web application development experience, or at least ten years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience with in-memory data stores, Redis, barcodes, clinical, and biospecimen data management.
  • Proficiency in Java with experience in the Spring Framework and Hibernate.
  • Ability to create Web APIs and design RESTful web services.
  • Knowledge of Python, R, Tableau, statistical analysis tools, and NIH experience is a plus.
  • Experience in developing web services, maintaining source code, and deploying applications using technologies such as CVS, SVN, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of the full system development life cycle, federal security, privacy, and Section 508 compliance requirements.
  • Strong site navigation and user interface design skills, excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the NIH environment and enterprise systems is a plus.
  • Experience with reverse engineering and refactoring code.
  • Experience with clinical study data management, eCRFs, accurate reporting, Jasper Reports, Junit, Web Services, SoapUI, Maven, Struts, clinical research document review process, and integration with bio specimen barcode systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills and extensive training and experience in system development and support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $115.000 to $135,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
