Capitol Language Services is seeking a Sports Instructor

We are looking for a high-energy individual who can support our growing after-school program. We have multiple sites in the NW and one in the SE area of Washington, DC.

This is a fun, fast-paced work environment and an opportunity to make a daily positive impact in the lives of the children who attend our programs. Please note this is a part-time job.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have knowledge of a variety of sports rules and group games for children.
  • Have the availability to work 3-6 pm, Monday – Friday.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Have experience working with children in a school or camp environment. At least 1 year is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Punctual and regular attendance 
  • Good references from previous employers 
  • Familiar with Excel (read students’ schedules and daily activities)
  • Legal US work authorization
  • Previous experience related to this position is preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and ability to handle various learning abilities.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Creativity and ability to teach engaging activities.
  • DCPS clearance preferred but no necessary at the time of application.
  • Must be willing to undergo a DCPS background check.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsibilities include planning organized sports and group activities for children 1st - 5th grade. The sports instructor will be leading a group of children of a specific grade, keeping track of attendance, and communicating behavior issues to the coordinator and program director. Planning will have to be submitted ahead of time for review and preparation of materials.

This is a 10-month position from August 2024 to June 2025.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
