Summary/objective

The Senior Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) Associate prepares and reviews complex financial information.  Manages account records, process transactions, and analyze financial data for multiple clients. A self-starter who mentors by example, works with minimal direction, and is learning how to manage work with less direction.  Strives to develop other team members by providing guidance and work direction. Takes on challenges and strives for personal and professional growth.


Essential functions

  • Successfully performs and reviews challenging and complex client engagements.
  • Prepares and reviews client financial statements so it can be easily interpreted by a reviewer or client.
  • Complete all aspects of accounting engagements for clients, which may include write-up, payroll and sales/use tax.
  • Seeks guidance and feedback from more senior employees as needed to limit rework by producing quality deliverables on the first attempt.
  • Effective prioritization of work based on deadlines and commitments; meets those deadlines and commitments.
  • Ability to recognize, anticipate and research accounting issues for clients and derive conclusions,  solutions and makes recommendations to management team.
  • Effectively creates and updates spreadsheets that may require creating formulas, use of lookup tool, and ability to manage and analyze spreadsheets.
  • Seeks and exceeds internal and client expectations by producing quality work, quick turnaround, and attentive services.
  • Effectively navigate the various software programs and tools used by the firm.
  • Meets agreed upon productivity and efficiency standards.
  • Assists in the development of other team members by taking the time to teach and share information and skills that are critical to their current and future work; makes oneself available to answer questions and is responsive.
  • Facilitates cross-communication between staff members who serve the same client.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of SSARS.  
  • Professional with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting issues and concepts to others. 
  • Attention to detail and dedication to producing quality work and avoiding negligent errors.
  • Proven experience in training, mentoring, and developing of team members skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Builds long term, trusted, and respected relationships with clients and team members by being a team player who has demonstrated integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.

Work environment

  • The work environment is an air conditioned office setting with lighting and minimal noise.


Physical requirements:

  • Sedentary work.
  • Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Repetitive motion and substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • Speaking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers through the telephone or in person.
  • Hearing - The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (alarms) in person or through telephone. 
  • Must have the ability to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to other office locations or to meet with clients.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.


Travel required

  • May travel as needed to other Byrne Zizzi locations or to meet with clients at their location.


Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.


Preferred education and experience

  • A current CPA license or CPA eligible working towards obtaining license.
  • Three (3) years’ Financial Reporting or Tax experience at a CPA firm..
  • Preferred experience with Thompson Reuters Suite.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with spreadsheets including creating formulas, using look up, and the ability to manage and analyze data.
  • Desire to grow professionally within the firm.
