GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Acts as a central clearing house for all receipts of the county, including auditing cash receipt listing, preparing bank deposits, assuring proper posting to the general ledger and distributing cash receipt reports to proper personnel.
  2.  Coordinates Workers Compensation insurance payments with the County’s third-party administrator, including verifying bank statements, upload positive pay file to the bank, maintain records of deposits into the Worker's Compensation account.
  3.  Reconcile the ambulance billing revenue to deposits received, provide analysis of collection rates compared to amounts to be written off, and prepare journal entry as necessary.
  4.  Conducts reviews of departmental and/or agency fiscal operations to assist them in improving the internal control system.
  5.  Prepares all Finance Department requisitions both annually and as needed during the year.
  6.  Insures all internal controls on Revenue Process validating documents from decentralized systems to the receipts received.
  7.  Maintain and coordinate records disposition for the Finance department according to Florida Statutes. Schedule records for destruction and prepare new items ready for storage.
  8.  Responsible for the processing of the tags and titles for all County vehicles, including transfers, disposals, and renewals.
  9.  Files a variety of correspondence, documents, requests received, and other forms and materials in order to provide documentation of activities and comply with agency and State records management, and agency operating policies and procedures.
  10.  Preparation of the monthly Sales Tax and Tourism and Development reports to the State of Florida.
  11.  Prepare various journal entries for review and approval before posting.
  12.  Performs other related duties as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education:

Candidate must possess an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of clerical/accounting experience, but will consider entry level with Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Ability to analyze and process large amounts of data in excel.
  • Good problem solving skills, analytical skills, propose solutions and ability to make informed decisions.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to operate a ten-key adding machine by touch.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted at the Clerk’s discretion.


 Licenses/Certificates:

A valid Florida Driver's License or Florida Identification is required for the hiring process.

Work Schedule:   


  • Monday through Friday, 40 Hours per week between the hours of 7:30am and 5pm in accordance with pre-approved work schedule within department.
