Summary:

The General Staff Accountant assists in maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; preparing and analyzing budgets; and general bookkeeping.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department including AP/AR invoice processing, financial statement preparation, and ad hoc budget review and analysis.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Assist with monthly payroll journal entries
  • Review and reconcile AMEX Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis. This includes reconciliation of the monthly payment handled at the support office
  • Maintain checklists and other organizational tools to ensure all journal entries are recorded timely, accurately, and completely.
  • Assists in preparing monthly financial operating statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, capital expense summaries, and other financial reports as required.
  • Assists in analysis of variance payroll and expenses to budget, and monitoring of capital expenditure expenses.
  • Maintain construction accounting records and assist with preparation of bank draw requests.
  • Record assigned corporate G&A accruals including but not limited to benefits plans, corporate audit, and overhead expense accruals provided by other entities
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill:


  • Knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage Accounting Software and ADP a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Must have excellent verbal skills and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate attention to details and good record-keeping
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and local, state, and federal tax laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel).

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience in detailed oriented, high-volume business is preferred. (accounting operations and/or audit).
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write English and follow verbal and written instructions.
