This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 7:15am-4:15pm. The starting pay rate is $12.50-13.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. This position is located onsite at our center: 398 Douglas Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.

The Cook/Bus Driver oversees operations of the food program including hygiene, meal planning, preparation, food distribution to rooms, record keeping, and all kitchen operations. This role also ensures adherence to Child Care Food Program guidelines and all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation. The bus driver is responsible for safely operating the school bus. The driver must pick up and drop off students per the schedule, ensure that the bus is always in good operating condition, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, regulations, and rules of conduct.

What You’ll Do:
•    Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with the nutritional guidelines set forth by the DCF Child Care Food Program Guide
•    Plan for all food and necessary supplies needed to provide food service
•    Maintain verification of food and non-food purchases to meet Child Care Food Program requirements
•    Keep a daily meal production record following the Child Care Food Program guide
•    Distribute food to the classroom and pick up all food items and supplies from the classroom when lunch is over
•    Practice safe food handling techniques in food preparation and storage
•    Ensure kitchen area is well maintained and cleaned and report maintenance needs for major appliances to the Director
​​​​​​• Drive school van for the purpose of transporting regular education and/or special education students over scheduled routes to/from school in a safe and timely manner\
• Oversee the loading and unloading of students and release students to authorized individuals
• Ensure that children are aware of the rules of the bus
• Fuel assigned vehicle for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition
• Inspect assigned vehicle, both interior and exterior (ex. cleaning floors/mirrors/windows/seats, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle
• Document and report severe disciplinary cases
• Maintain current required license and certificates
• Advise director of any requirements for maintenance and repair of the bus/van

What We Need From You:
•    High school diploma and/or GED
•    Willingness to obtain ServSafe Certification
•   Required DCF Transportation Class and DCF Driver Physical Exam
•   Must clear a full level II DCF background check
•   CPR, First Aid, and Fire Extinguisher Certification completion within 30 days of employment 
•   Provide a current DMB Drivers Record 
•   DCF Transportation Safety (TRS) training completion within 30 days of employment
•   Experience with cooking, FL Department of Health Food Program, and food ordering
•    Must be able to lift, push or carry up to 40-50lbs
•    Able to stand for more than 2 or 3 hours
