Overview:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Respite Care Providers to join our team in Newark, NJ. The Respite Care Provider will be responsible for delivering temporary care to clients in need of assistance due to the absence or relief of their primary caregivers. Duties include providing companionship, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring the safety and comfort of clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing assistance, companionship, and comfort to clients with physical, emotional, or cognitive limitations.
  • Administering prescribed medications and monitoring vital signs under supervision.
  • Assessing clients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reporting any changes to the supervisor.
  • Facilitating appropriate professional intervention when required.
  • Engaging clients in suitable activities, such as socializing, playing games, or reading out loud.
  • Assisting clients with mobility, personal hygiene, eating, and drinking.
  • Accompanying clients on medical appointments and outings as needed.
  • Performing light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, cooking, and shopping.
  • Maintaining a hygienic and safe environment for clients at all times.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Completion of State/Federal Criminal Background checks, Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI) checks, and Central Registry checks.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points) if driving is required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified home health aide (CHHA) preferred.
  • State-approved training, as well as CPR and first aid certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a respite care provider preferred.
  • Available to work irregular hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, and compassion.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform basic caregiving tasks.
