Primary Objective

The Supply Chain Supervisor works closely with the Supply Chain Manager to supervise all Supply Chain Technicians to include their daily activities to ensure all shipping tasks are followed per DOT and IMDG standard, packaging equipment and rail equipment is running safely and efficiently. This role will coordinate activities including but not limited to safety, supply chain training, shift assignments, packaging schedules, employee performance reviews and corrective actions.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and prioritizes work among teams to ensure proper safety compliance, proper environmental compliance, quality assurance, and customer demands are met.
  • Thoroughly communicate activities, goals, and targets during work shift.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements, including team discipline and documentation working with the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Promptly keeps the manager fully informed of all problems of unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Recommends and performs all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned.
  • Enforces all company policies and procedures
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid, promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximize employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Communication with Maintenance to ensure complete understanding of work requests
  • Oversee work order tracking and issuing
  • Oversee monitoring of packaging equipment, forklift maintenance, and rail conditions.
  • Continuous improvement through procedure updates.
  • Establish packaging best practices and KPI’s to achieve an efficient packaging process.
  • Maintain excellent communication with all supply chain personnel, maintenance technicians, and contractors.
  • Active liaison to contractors to include expulsion from the site if necessary
  • Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, tracking PM’s with Maintenance Planner, enforcing best practices for housekeeping.
  • Stop any activity that could result in an injury to personnel or harm to the environment
  • Work with Customer Service Representative to create and maintain the best accommodating dock schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work with Supply Chain Manager to maintain certification / re-certification required for supply chain.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • AS Degree in business operations, supply chain management, procurement or another related field, or 5 years minimum warehouse / packaging supervisory experience.
  • Good communications skills including written and verbal assignments.
  • Demonstrate competent computer skills
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set goals, motivate and manage supply chain workforce.
  • Must have active DOT and IMDG certification; required for domestic and export shipping.
  • Forklift experience

Essential Physical Demands

  • Must be able to climb 5-10 flights of stairs multiple times
  • Must be able to climb ladders (multiple rungs) both fixed and portable.
  • Must be able to sustain overhead reaching, bending, squatting, twisting.
  • Must be able to sustain continuous sitting and standing
  • Must be able to lift ~50 lb., pull, and push tools/equipment with ease.
  • Must be able to work in outside elements (Heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.)
  • Must be able to walk without assistance on various work surfaces (gravel, concrete, asphalt, grating, dirt)
  • Must be able to verbally communicate via radio
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE (hard hat, eye protection, face shield, hearing protection, gloves, chemical suits, steel toed shoes, fall arrest).

Supervisory Responsibility

The position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a 40-hour week. The working hours for this position will rotate weekly:

  • 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
