Job Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Paid Media to lead our dynamic and innovative Paid Media Team. This pivotal role requires a strategic visionary with over 10 years of experience in digital advertising, including a substantial track record in managing diverse teams and developing successful, large-scale paid media strategies across a variety of platforms such as Google Ads, Bing Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn.
In this leadership position, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of our paid media efforts, driving the integration of digital campaigns with broader marketing initiatives, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing substantial advertising budgets, developing high-performing teams, and engaging with senior stakeholders to drive organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Defines and leads the strategic vision for the paid media department, ensuring alignment with the company’s marketing goals and financial objectives
- Oversees the development, execution, and optimization of comprehensive paid media strategies across various platforms to maximize ROI and achieve key performance indicators
- Cultivates a team-oriented environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and high performance
- Manages a team of paid media managers, strategists, and specialists
- Engages with C-Suite executives and other senior stakeholders to report on campaign performance, gain insights, and align paid media strategies with broader business objectives
- Champions the integration of emerging technologies and platforms, staying ahead of industry trends and competitive landscapes
- Fosters strong collaborations between the paid media team and other departments to develop holistic and impactful marketing campaigns
- Mentors and develops team members, providing guidance, and building a strong succession pipeline within the department
- Works directly with the VP of Paid Media to grow the capabilities of the Paid Media Team
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in paid digital media, with a proven track record in strategic leadership and team management
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful paid media strategies across multiple platforms, managing significant advertising budgets
- Extensive experience in presenting to and collaborating with C-Suite executives and other senior executives
- Strong leadership skills, with a history of building and mentoring high-performing teams
- In-depth knowledge of the digital media landscape, including emerging platforms and technologies
- Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Exceptional multitasking and project management skills
- Strong attention to detail (include the word “rocketship” in your cover letter)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of organic social media strategy, and the strong overlap between organic and paid
- Understanding of Amazon advertising
- Experience with programmatic DSPs such as StackAdapt and Basis
- Prior experience with data warehouse platforms and BI tools such as Google BigQuery and Tableau
