What We Seek...

We are looking for an individual to strategize, manage, and continuously improve processes including purchasing, inventory management, and inbound/outbound transportation operations. To succeed in this role, you should have thorough knowledge and experience in supply chain management and the ability to direct a team to achieve supply chain key metrics. You should also have experience in sourcing, purchasing, negotiation, supplier management, inventory management, and transportation compliance with safety processes, DOT regulations, and import customs.


Job Summary

The Director of Supply Chain Management will report to the CEO and is responsible for sourcing and purchasing direct and indirect materials, effectively managing inventory to established levels, competitively sourcing, managing supplier performance, and managing both inbound and outbound freight within budget. This individual will have multiple direct report employees and will be responsible for delegating tasks accordingly, monitoring performance, and conducting regular follow-ups with business objectives.


The Director of Supply Chain will be financially responsible for ensuring our material expense is performing at or under budget while maintaining supply continuity and ensuring proper material quality. They will maintain awareness of all financial transactions, ensuring that projects are in line within allotted budgets, and negotiate rates with carriers and providers. Compliance is important in supply chain, as negligence in following regulations may compromise safety. This position will be responsible for establishing compliance of all programs with state and federal regulations, including those imposed by the Department of Transportation (DOT). In addition, they are responsible for ensuring materials comply with customer requirements.


Job Functions

  • Implement Strategic Sourcing initiatives to ensure all materials and services that support Britten, including the import process to ensure customs compliance are at the lowest cost.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key subcontract partners.
  • Manage supplier relationships with international suppliers ensuring competitive costing, reliable lead-times, dependable quality, and cost-effective inbound transportation.
  • Partner with Operations Leadership to ensure materials meet production needs and identify make vs. buy opportunities.
  • Develop, implement & update SOPs as needed to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement actions that drive inventory reduction to achieve inventory financial budget goals.
  • Be a key contributor to the implementation and rollout of any new software platforms from a supply chain & logistics perspective.
  • Strategic management of outbound and inbound freight to ensure best-in-class carrier rates and service levels.
  • Ensure all shipments are scheduled to meet customer needs working closely with Production Management at all Britten, Inc. facilities.
  • Implement an efficient and accurate process for quoting freight and packaging for outgoing shipments.
  • Lead initiatives to develop packaging standards.
  • Implement cost reduction strategy to improve material and logistics costs.
  • Responsible for implementing initiatives to improve net outbound freight fee vs expense.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.

Requirements:
  • Proven work experience in Supply Chain management with extensive purchasing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, and/or Logistics or relevant field is required.
  • Solid knowledge of Supply Chain management and financial reporting.
  • Thorough understanding of the latest trends and strategies within Supply Chain management
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop staff.
