Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled and passionate Line Cooks to join our culinary team’s mission to serve quality food to our faculty, students, and community. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, possess excellent cooking skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to the quality of their work.


Essential Functions:

  1. Prepare and cook menu items per recipes and quality standards.
  2. Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies
  3. Ensure that food preparation and cooking areas are clean and organized at all times.
  4. Follow proper food safety procedures and sanitation guidelines.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to the Café Manager.
  6. Collaborate with the Cafe team to ensure timely and efficient service.
  7. Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including but not limited to, chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, portioning ingredients, etc.
  8. Adhere to all kitchen safety and sanitation regulations.
  9. Clean and sanitize all areas of the Cafe and dining area as needed. 
  10. Ensure quality customer service to faculty, students, and the general public at all times.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned. 


Qualifications:
To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:


Education: Current Food Manager’s Certification or Food Handler’s Certificate is mandatory. A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.


Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and culinary fundamentals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility to work mornings and/or afternoons.
  • Commitment to show up on time in uniform ready to work for every scheduled shift.


Experience: Proven experience as a line cook in a reputable high-volume restaurant or food service establishment for 1-2 years.


Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check.




Environmental Factors:
Conventional Educational Environment. In some programs, employees may occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals, and the hazards associated with respective industry equipment.
