Controller Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and the development of internal control policies and procedures.

Primary Duties

  • Actively participate in month-end closing processes and procedures.

  • Prepare timely monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements.

  • Manage and report to stakeholders.

  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

  • Stay updated on changes to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Oversee and assist with managing the accounting team.

  • Reconcile complex accounting imbalances.

  • Coordinate the preparation for annual and periodic audits.

  • Work directly with tax accountants to prepare tax returns, K-1s, and other tax filing requirements.

  • Handle confidential documents related to payroll and benefits processing.

  • Assist the capital markets team with budget and projection models.

  • Coordinate the renewal of corporate insurance policies.

  • Perform any other duties as required or needed from time to time.

Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting-related experience.

  • Experience in financial services and lending.

  • Proficiency in all aspects of the month-end closing process.

  • Experience with NetSuite.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel.

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

  • Self-starter with strong personal and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to identify process weaknesses and implement solutions to improve efficiency.

  • Experience handling highly confidential information and maintaining privacy.

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and Internet usage.

Preferred:

  • Commercial real estate lending experience.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Big 4 experience.
