Position Summary-The Line Cook/Prep Cook is a vital member of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to meet the restaurant’s quality standards and ensuring a smooth operation in both the prep and line cooking areas. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a passion for culinary excellence.

Reports to: Kitchen Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Food Preparation:
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking by chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring.
  • Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Cooking and Line Work:
  • Cook dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Manage multiple orders and ensure timely and accurate preparation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and stoves.
  • Kitchen Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils regularly.
  • Quality Control:
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to meet restaurant standards.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Assist with inventory control, including checking stock levels and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages.
  • Handle and store food items properly to minimize waste.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth operation and timely service.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the kitchen manager.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Education requirements-high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience requirements-
  1. Previous kitchen experience is required
  2. Understanding of food safety and sanitation
  3. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
  4. Ability to follow recipes and adhere to portion sizes
