WHO ARE WE SEARCHING FOR?  

We are seeking a Senior Director of Elections Software Engineering to lead our teams in creating complex election management solutions. This position will be responsible for guiding the technical vision, strategy, and execution of our product development efforts. The VP of Software Engineering will be pivotal in shaping the technology roadmap, nurturing an innovative culture, and guaranteeing the scalability, reliability, and performance of the product. This role not only leads internal teams but is highly involved in client relationships.

  • Leads the development and implementation of technology standards and best practices across the organization.
  • Conducts comprehensive analysis and evaluation to determine optimal solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Champions the assessment and integration of modern technologies, techniques, and tools.
  • Fosters constructive and cooperative relationships with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversees the establishment, evolution, and adherence to standard practices and processes within the engineering disciplines.
  • Ensures compliance with technology policies and security controls, driving adherence across the organization.
  • Leads and participates in Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and Systems and Organization Controls (SOC) audits and reporting.
  • Identifies and recruits the necessary resources required to build a high-performing engineering team.
  • Manages staff performance, development, and training, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a senior leadership role managing technical projects, programs, and/or practice areas.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing software/IT teams.
  • Proven ability to influence decisions and build consensus across internal and external software and network development teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery and effective stakeholder management.
  • Ability to deliver compelling and effective senior-level presentations and demonstrations in both virtual and live environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business, technology, and management principles, including strategic planning, organizational change management, and resource allocation.
  • Extensive knowledge of leading technology best practices, including familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and leverage those relationships to improve the quality of work products.

 

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • AWS or Azure Cloud certification (Minimum: Fundamental or Associate Level)
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools 
  • Familiarity with SOC and CIS controls
  • Familiarity with compliance and security standards in cloud environments

  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time
  • May be required to work on-call or long hours if necessary, in case of serious network malfunction.
