About The Dimock Center:

With the goal of breaking down barriers to care, The Dimock Center is meeting the complex health and wellness needs of all members of our community, right where they live. We provide over 19,000 people annually with care for the whole person through high-quality, low-cost health care and human services.

  • Our Health Center offers a range of primary and specialty health care for adults and children with specialized clinics, Eye Care, Dental, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and specialized care for those living with HIV/AIDs.
  • Our Behavioral Health Services programs provide residential and outpatient treatment for those struggling with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. For many individuals, our programs literally save lives.
  • Our Child and Family Services programs offer quality care, education and support to young children and their families.

Internship Description: We are looking for a Development and Communications Intern to become a valuable member of our dynamic team this summer as we gear up for our signature event, the 10th Annual Road to Wellness 5K Run/2-Mile Walk. This free road race will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in Roxbury, MA.

This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in a collaborative work environment. The selected candidate will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications as well as collaborate with other members of the Development team, gaining a broad range of skills throughout their internship experience. The Development and Communications Intern will gain experience with fundraising, event planning, communications and marketing, research, and more.

Job Responsibilites: The Development and Communications Intern will be actively involved in supporting the operations of the Office of Development & Communications through various communication and marketing initiatives, including:

  • Assisting in the creation of social media, email, print, and web content
  • Taking photos and writing content to support fundraising and event communications
  • Monitoring and responding to comments, messages, and inquiries on social media and email
  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of tasks related to the Road to Wellness 5K Run/2-Mile Walk

The Development and Communications Intern may also be involved in supporting the following development (fundraising) initiatives:

  • Researching potential donors, sponsors, or grant opportunities
  • Creating donor prospect profiles or briefings when needed
  • Helping to maintain Dimock’s donor database (Bloomerang)
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of grant applications

Other responsibilities may include:

  • Providing general administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, organizing documents, filing paperwork, calendar and database management, taking meeting notes, etc.
  • Helping coordinate volunteer service days

Important necessary skills:

  • Availability to work 10-20 hours per week on-site with flexibility to work a hybrid schedule
  • While relevant previous internship or work experience is valued, it is not a mandatory requirement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential.
  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn Canva, MailChimp, WordPress, and other digital tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a key asset.
  • Capable of conducting efficient and strong research.
  • The candidate should demonstrate self-motivation, excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Times/days of the week must be available: 10-20 hours per week, with availability on select Saturdays
