Facility Technician

Piedmont Service Group has been providing HVAC services to clients in NC, SC, and VA since 1971

This position will service and support an iconic campus of buildings in the Durham area. Approximately 60% of the work is indoors with 40% being outdoors or rooftop.

Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00 pm (with a 1 hour lunch break). This position sometimes requires work outside normal work schedule hours and the start time may vary by 1-2 hours on occasion. There is minimal opportunity for routine overtime.

This position covers a variety of tasks including:

  • Routine maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Responding to reactive work order type assignments (e.g. fan box not working, unit down, etc.) involving troubleshooting and possible repair.
  • Root cause analysis of equipment failures in mechanical systems and control components
  • Ability to troubleshoot with or without guidance and resolve complex issues with a variety of infrastructure systems (i.e. boilers, air cooled chillers, DX equipment, BAS systems, etc.)
  • Daily interaction with clients (internal and external)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • May work on several projects at one time
  • Perform routine maintenance on systems without direction

Position Requirements include:

  • Minimum 3 years in one or more of the following trades - mechanical and electrical
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly develop root cause analysis of failures
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service (internal and external)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Possess an outgoing and positive attitude
  • Computer literate and technology savvy
  • Detail oriented
