Executive Housekeeper Job Description Overview: 


The Executive Housekeeper will oversee the planning, direction, coordination, and execution of all activities and personnel within the housekeeping and laundry departments. This role is key to maintaining the highest standards of service and cleanliness, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for all guests. Adherence to the principles of Honesty, Attitude, and Transparency (HAT) is essential for success in this position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:

  • Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
  • Evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required.

Staff Management:

  • Plan and prepare employee work schedules.
  • Forecast necessary levels of staffing and stock at different times to facilitate effective scheduling and ordering.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
  • Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Lead, train, coach, motivate, engage, and provide feedback to the housekeeping staff daily.
  • Screen job applicants and hire new employees.

Operational Coordination:

  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Supervise in-house services such as laundry.
  • Advise the front office of rooms ready for occupancy.

Complaint Resolution:

  • Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.

Resource Management:

  • Order and purchase equipment and supplies, and issue supplies and equipment to workers.
  • Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces.
  • Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order.

Reporting:

  • Prepare activity and personnel reports, including information such as occupancy, hours worked, facility usage, work performed, and departmental expenses.

Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Establish and implement operational standards and procedures for the department.
  • Recommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiency.
  • Confer with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems and to discuss company policies.

Adherence to HAT Principles:

  • Honesty: Foster an environment of trust by being truthful and transparent in all interactions.
  • Attitude: Maintain a positive and proactive attitude, encouraging the same among staff to create a motivating and pleasant work environment.

  • Proven experience in a housekeeping management role.
  • Executive housekeeping management experience required.

  • Knowledge of cleaning materials and techniques for different surfaces and fabrics.
  • Proficiency in ordering and inventory management.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with staff and coordinating with other departments.
  • Competency in preparing detailed reports and maintaining records.
  • Open availability is a must. Hotel operates 24/7, including holidays.
