George Fox University's University Mail Services department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated team player to fill the role of Senior Mail Services Specialist.


About the Job:

The Senior Mail Services Specialist is a full-time role responsible for assisting the Director of University Mail Services with daily operations and overseeing the student employees within the Mail Services department.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the coordination and prioritization of daily work and ongoing functions of the University Mail Services.
  • Overseeing customer service to ensure quality and prevent errors in shipments.
  • Managing all aspects of student employee logistics, including:
    • Hiring, training, and supervising student employees.
    • Creating and maintaining work schedules for student employees.
    • Conducting regular evaluations and performance reviews for student employees.
  • Accurately maintaining student campus mailboxes.
  • Accurately maintaining department supplies and inventory.
  • Managing interactions with customers, such as parents and students.
  • Assuming full responsibility for maintaining the department "Standards Of Procedure" notebook.
  • Assuming responsibility with service technicians for department equipment.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • An Associate Degree is required at a minimum.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage a number of different tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to use critical thinking.

Job information:

  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours
  • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment but could include any of the following activities:
    • Regularly lifting more than 45 pounds.
    • Performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion, and reaching above shoulder level for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours.
    • Using repetitive hand movements, including grasping and handling small to large objects.
  • Supervisor: Director of Mail Services
