Medical Simulation Operator


Venesco, LLC is seeking a Medical Simulation Operator to support C-STARS Cincinnati, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH.


The 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Airman Systems Directorate (RH), the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) and the Human Systems Integration Directorate (HP). The Wing delivers unparalleled capability to the Air Force through a combination of world class infrastructure and expertise of its diverse workforce of military, civilian and contractor personnel encompassing 75 occupational specialties including science and engineering, occupational health and safety, medical professions, technicians, educators, and business operations and support.


Administrative and Functional Support as the Simulation Operator

  • 2.1.1 The contractor shall provide technical expertise and support on operating a high-fidelity patient simulator system, assist in developing metrics to validate a simulation-based team- training program. Will assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams for the purpose of improving patient outcomes. Provide technical and analytic support for the Team Training Program at USAFSAM. Contractor will be working with the USAFSAM/ETC personnel to provide digital video recording support, maintenance of existing equipment, analysis of team training measures, design of simulation scenarios, technical expertise in running simulators within a constrained/controlled simulation environment. Contractor will also provide support for digital video recording and simulators for C-STARS training platforms.
  • 2.1.2 Contractor shall be using a “state-of-the-art”, Learning Management System. Primary
  • Tasks will include operating the LMS & A/V solution that will be used to view and evaluate learner performance during training and simulation events.
  • 2.1.3 Contractor shall provide analysis of team performance during pre and post simulated conditions to establish correlation between pre- and post-performance. Contractor shall utilize, complete, collect and track simulation evaluation tools.
  • 2.1.4 Contractor shall also assist with development, data collection, data analysis, and administration of all pre- and post-simulation scenarios.
  • 2.1.5 Contractor shall prepare training environments, operate simulation equipment/assets, and recover equipment and environment for scheduled training and upon request by USAFSAM Staff
  • 2.1.6 Contractor shall conduct orientation to the simulation equipment, environment and provide overview of the human patient simulator.
  • 2.1.7 Contractor shall assist in the management and support daily operations of the simulation training program.
  • 2.1.8 Contractor shall assist in the development of simulation program validation metrics.
  • 2.1.9 Contractor shall work cooperatively with the applicable program analysis, course curriculum advisors, course program director, IM/IT, medical logistics, and site simulation center leadership to identify operational needs. Based on these identified needs, the contractor shall develop recommendations to address simulation/course shortfalls.
  • 2.1.10 Contractor shall provide assistance to the program course director during the patient simulation scenario review process.
  • 2.1.11 Contractor shall develop and provide training, safety, and maintenance materials appropriate to the operation of all simulation equipment as directed by the Simulation Program Coordinator or as warranted by operational necessity.
  • 2.1.12 Contractor shall attend all strategic planning meetings and teleconferences, as well as meetings and conferences for the purpose of improving the patient simulated course experience and delivery of course content.
  • 2.1.13 Contractor shall assist and provide guidance to simulation center set-up and shall provide consultative assistance to program course management regarding future site expansion, as well as high-fidelity HPS recommendations.
  • 2.1.14 Contractor shall ensure that simulation education, program key elements, and learning objectives are taken into account, and shall ensure simulation training outcome measurements meet course and skill sustainment requirements.
  • 2.1.15 Contractor shall be responsible for reporting needs regarding simulation supplies & equipment in support of course training scenarios targeted to meet identified learning objectives.
  • 2.1.16 Contractor shall effectively operate simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized Hi-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers individually
  • or in combination with the ability to follow legitimate medical aspects of scenarios, and shall make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions or inactions as needed.
  • 2.1.17 Contractor shall create troubleshooting documents, simulation checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios for simulation equipment. These products will be forwarded to the program course director for review.
  • 2.1.18 Contractor shall support USAFSAM simulation research projects within the capacity of contractor PWS
  • 2.1.19 Contractor leave request/projections will be provided to C-STARS Cincinnati Deputy Site Director at least 10 work days in advance via email to meet local policy. Absence during scheduled course dates will be avoided.
  • 2.1.20 Contractor shall assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting items for the purpose of training additional cadre members.
Requirements:

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 1.1.1.2 Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint applications is required.
  • 1.1.1.3 All contractors must meet the requirements and/or be in one of the following categories:
  • • Current and maintain a National Registered Paramedic (NRP) certification.
  • • Paramedic equivalent medical knowledge (with RN level preferred) as the Simulation operator in order to be able to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants response to simulated scenarios.
  • • Must maintain Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification
  • • Five years of clinical experience in military or civilian setting
  • 1.1.1.4 Contractor shall have at least (2) years’ experience with programming of human
  • patient simulators using primarily Laerdal, Gaumard & CAE simulator operating systems.
  • 1.1.1.5 Prior experience in course development and education methodology.
  • 1.1.1.6 Contractor shall have knowledge of military trauma clinical skills, procedures, processes to include: AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs),
  • 1.1.1.7 Contractor shall have knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards. Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines, policy & procedure through successful completion of USAFSAM’s and Department’s orientation programs is required.
  • 1.1.1.8 Contractor must have a Non-Disclosure Agreement in place with their company, and the company must provide a copy to the Program Manager of this task order. This is necessary in order to mitigate transfer of any confidential, proprietary and/or sensitive information while in this position.
  • 1.1.1.9 Contractor must be able to lift < 50 pounds and move human patient simulation equipment to and from training areas, work in low-light, high-volume environments, and differing weather conditions simulating actual aeromedical evacuation missions.

Highly Desired Qualifications


1.1.2.1 Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Audio/visual solutions, moulage creation & application, hyper-realistic simulators, and task-trainers.

1.1.2.2 One year of military medical/military deployment experience.
