Lead Machine Builder


Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Shift: 11pm-7am

Pay: $65k-$85k/year based on experience


Primary Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to complete tasks according to machine blueprints, without direct supervision.
  • Custom fits parts and maintains required tolerances.
  • Installs conduit and complete wiring of machines.
  • Lays out and completes installation of pneumatic/hydraulic components.
  • Performs custom bending of conduit and steel tubing.
  • Guides Assemblers II and III through assembly procedures
  • Needs to be able to perform all level II and III assembly functions.
  • Performs skilled fitting and assembly of machined and/or purchased components involving a wide variety of hand and machine operations, without direct supervision.
  • Completes tasks according to machine assembly drawings and specifications.
  • Uses precision instruments to layout and align work.
  • Requires a high level of mechanical skill and knowledge of precision inspection techniques.


Job Requirements:

  • A thorough understanding of machine detail and assembly blueprints, control schematics, and job procedures.
  • Should be proficient in the use of all hand tools and small machines used in the machine assembly process.
  • Should also own all necessary tools (measuring devices, and small hand tools) to complete a job. Must be able to follow and give directions.
  • Must be able to produce a very high quality of work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and get along with fellow employees, as well as lead the 2nd shift team.
  • Basic math and reading skills are required.
