Independent Sales Rep, Motorcycle Accessories (Contractor, Commission-Only)

Position Overview:
Mustang Motorcycle Seats, established in 1980 and proudly handcrafted in Three Rivers, Massachusetts, is a leading manufacturer of high-quality motorcycle seats and accessories. Known for their dedication to American craftsmanship, each seat is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans using the finest raw materials, ensuring unparalleled comfort and durability. Their product range includes solo seats, two-up seats, sissy bar pads, fender bibs, and custom options, all designed to enhance the riding experience for motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. LDR Advisory Partners is facilitating the hiring of this position for Mustang Motorcycle Seats.

We seek a highly motivated and proactive Remote Sales Representative who thrives independently. This individual must possess strong sales and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities. Success in this role will be driven by the ability to generate revenue through phone-based sales, including creating sales leads, initiating prospect calls, and establishing ongoing rapport with existing and potential customers. The ideal candidate will maintain a comprehensive knowledge of company products and programs and assist customers with related paperwork. Integrity, teamwork, vision, and passion are key attributes for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage Dealer Relationships: Effectively manage and market assigned dealer relationships to achieve quality, pricing, and volume objectives.
  • Client Management: Handle existing client relationships while actively pursuing new opportunities.
  • Sales Calls: Make follow-up calls to potential and existing customers to cross-sell and up-sell company products.
  • Prospect Calls: Call prospective customers to establish buying cycles, identify customer needs, and create supplier relationships.
  • Lead Conversion: Handle inbound, unsolicited prospect calls and convert them into sales.
  • Performance Monitoring: Address underperforming dealers and follow up regularly to ensure company objectives are met.
  • Objection Handling: Overcome technical and business objections from prospective customers.
  • Product Demos: Provide product demonstrations to qualified customers upon request.
  • Quotation and Orders: Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales orders.
  • Order Fulfillment: Secure and place orders, considering delivery dates and inventory levels.
  • Reporting: Prepare business transaction reports and enter data for new and current customers into the database.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze dealer-specific data for efficiency, profitability, and performance, and work with Sales Management on appropriate actions.
  • Market Trends: Monitor and report on trends affecting the dealer and retail markets and execute the annual sales strategy.
  • Sales Growth: Increase sales in respective accounts and prepare sales information for customers.
  • Customer Insights: Establish buying influences, budgets, and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts.
  • Competitive Analysis: Stay abreast of competitive information and analysis.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or requested by Sales Management.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of sales experience; motorcycle parts and accessory sales experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office; MAS 200 experience is a plus.
  • Customer Service: Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Negotiation Skills: Demonstrate effective negotiating, decision-making skills, and closing techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for all projects and tasks.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess strong planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and decide on the information.
  • Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidentiality: Discretion when dealing with confidential information.
  • Initiative: Must have the initiative to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to attend trade shows and dealer establishments.

Reports to: Sales Manager & Marketing Manager
