JOB DESCRIPTION

                      Job Title:Clerk V – Mail CourierDivision:Clerical Union:AFSCME Local 3696Grade:11Salary:$44,706Reports to:Support Staff Supervisor / Regional Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
 
  • Operate a medium size cargo van.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and other county departments in a professional and cordial manner.
  • Keep accurate records of time, fuel usage, and office supplies.
  • Submit accurate office supply information to purchaser.
  • Assist administration with moving office and computer equipment.
  • Pack/wrap mail and or office supplies.
  • Un-pack/un-wrap mail and or office supplies.
  • Route mail for internal and external distribution.
  • Accurately sort inter-departmental mail, USPS mail items, and other deliverables to department offices.
  • Ensure that mail is delivered on a timely basis consistent with established delivery schedules.
  • Assist in operating mail-metering equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Possess high school degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Exhibit attentiveness to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to issues of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well independently.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff, both directly and over the phone.
  • Possess willingness to ask questions and seek direction from supervisory staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform multiple tasks amid office distractions in a multi-staff work area.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn new computer applications and/or systems as they become available.
  • Perform full range of tasks required to support the mailroom process.
  • Be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
