Five on the Hill Runner

The food runner is responsible for accurately and efficiently building food orders, requisitions and delivering of food and food products to outlets and kitchen. The food runner shall check the food orders and requisition and then “prepare” the items listed and deliver them. This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in all areas of the food stations, storeroom including dry storage areas and freezer and cooler walk-ins.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep the quality of foods at a level consistent with the business flow of the restaurant.
- Uses props in a creative, yet suitable manner in order to make the dishes visually appealing.
- Monitor quality of food and inform the restaurant chef of any discrepancies.
- Prepares outlet layout with the direction of the restaurant manager and chef. Assist in setting up and decorating.
- Inform kitchen line cooks of what food is needed prior to food running out.
- Breaks-down station and store props in a neat, orderly manner for use later.
- Keep management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies.
- Return all equipment to its proper storage location using cares to minimize breakage.
- Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used.
- Report any faulty equipment to management immediately.
- Know the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment.
- Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other employees.
- Follow all sanitation standards.
- Maintain a proactive approach to the health, safety and security of all staff at all times.
- Be vigilant for any hazards, alerting a manager as necessary.
- Ensure maintain vigilance, to the public areas and exit routes are clear of any obstruction.
- Follow appropriate PPE instructions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bi-lingual preferred. Basic reading, writing and math skills. Some food preparation experience or training preferred. Luxury service preferred. High School or equivalent education preferred. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°ree;F) and kitchens (+110 °ree;F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four hours in length.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift including, but not limited to, pots and pans and trays of food or food items, on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and lift equipment on a regular basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Work Area: Kitchen, outlets and other hotel areas.
