Job Title: Food Service Manager

Summary: Manage Food Service Operations including Food Carts and Concessions. Supervise full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff in all food service locations in the performance of work duties and responsibilities; schedule and plan for catered outings; prepare food for daily menu and catered events.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Township food service program. That program includes a golf course restaurant/concession operation, Municipal pool concessions, activity center concessions and satellite concessions and vending operations.
  • Oversee the development and launch of our Mobile Food Service Program - Beverage and Food Carts (2) are in service on golf course and Overlook Campus.
  • Assist with food service policy review and development and make food service policy recommendations to Township managers.
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget for Township approval. Responsible for the Food service budget including approving of revenues and expenditures.
  • Supervise seasonal staff and full-time staff in performance of work duties and responsibilities; provide on-the-job training; establish work methods, communicate policy, rules and regulations; ensure work meets quality standards, enforce safety standards, schedule work, evaluate work performance, approve leave; effectively issue discipline and discharge in collaboration with the Human Resource Department.
  • Collaborate with full-time staff on department food service/concession operations as well as year-round part-time staff; order food and beverage according to fluctuating demands; obtain prices from various suppliers; prepare daily receipts; inventory food items and supplies, review inventory costs with Department Director to determine budget requirements; evaluate menu prices based on food cost and make changes to menu; identify problems and make changes within established parameters, or recommend changes to operations.
  • Schedule and plan for catered outings prepare in-house, contracted or arranged by party; communicate with customers and vendors to plan event coordinate staff to work various events; direct set up and clean-up operations.
  • Prepare food for daily menu and catered events; ensure proper handling of food supplies and clean-up of kitchen tools, work surfaces and equipment.
  • Utilize food service management software system to its full capability for department concession operations.

Other Functions

  • Assist with general duties for other staff in the event of their absence, i.e., receives calls, schedule events.
  • Ensure proper set-ups for catering events

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
  2. Ability to use hands to handle, fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop and kneel.
  3. Ability to bend or twist their body.
  4. Ability to perform strenuous and routine work; may involve significant pushing, pulling and carrying.
  5. Ability to lift, move, push, pull and carry up to 40 pounds
  6. Ability to balance, climb, craw, crouch, grasp, and perform repetitive motion occasionally.
  7. Ability to talk, hear and see (visual Acuity - near; with clarify at 20 inches or less. Far; with clarity at 20 feet or more).
  8. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
  9. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push, reach items below and overhead, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  10. Ability to operate office equipment including, periphery equipment, copier, and facsimile machine.
  11. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in food service or food management involving the planning and preparation of food in individual and large quantities.
  3. Minimum 3 years' experience in a kitchen environment
  4. Minimum 2 years' management experience
  5. Minimum 1 year experience using a POS system

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Serve Safe Certification. (Must obtain within 90 days of employment)
  2. RAMP certification (Must obtain within 30 days of employment)
  3. Bachelor's in culinary or related field preferred

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Must possess valid driver's license.
