About Us: New Beginnings is a residential treatment facility dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Resident Aids, also known as Detox Technicians, to join our team.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a treatment facility is strongly preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) or Registered Addiction Counselor (RAC) is preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the admission and intake process for new residents, including completing all required paperwork, assigning rooms, and conducting initial orientations.
  • Conduct property searches and urine drug screenings as required by program standards.
  • Provide transportation services for residents, including transportation for appointments, donation pick-ups, and agency errands.
  • Attend in-service training sessions, educational workshops, and all required staff meetings.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of drug and alcohol dependency, mental health issues, family systems, and various recovery resources available in the community, such as AA and Smart Recovery.
  • Develop and maintain individualized records of residents’ progress and participation in treatment, including documentation of admission, discharge, and various types of training or therapy.
  • Write clear and concise reports summarizing residents' feelings, expressions, and responses to their treatment plans.
  • Confront behavioral changes and recognize when additional support or intervention is needed.
  • Support healthcare practitioners with Integrated Medication Support (IMS).
  • Identify and manage personal recovery issues that could impact job performance and interactions with residents.
  • Adhere to professional ethics and maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with residents.
  • Show respect for the cultural and lifestyle diversities of residents and staff.
  • Prepare for and facilitate specialty programs as required.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, supervisors, and external resources.

Competencies and Performance Expectations: All Resident Aids/Detox Technicians are expected to:

  • Document resident intake and treatment progress accurately.
  • Mitigate crises and provide support as needed.
  • Act as a liaison and refer to the treatment team and external agencies.
  • Assess and report any behavioral changes in residents.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and work effectively as part of a treatment team.
  • Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Recognize and manage personal biases while working with diverse populations.
