As a Speech and Language Pathologist at Strawbridge, you will have the exciting opportunity to work in a smaller school environment where you can use your skills and creativity to impact your students. What is the Strawbridge School?
The Strawbridge School is a non-public school approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The program provides small, caring classroom settings guided by certified special education teachers.
The school serves youth with emotional, behavioral, and/or intellectual differences in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our team addresses the unique educational needs of students who have been unable to thrive in a less restrictive, public-school setting. The Strawbridge School is one of several programs provided by the Board of Child Care, a national children and family-focused charity headquartered in Baltimore.

Is there a sign-on bonus?
YES We're offing a $2000 sign-on bonus to candidates, which will be paid after the completion of new hire orientation. Our recruitment team can tell you a little more about all the other benefits for this role.

What does this job do specifically?
- Screen, assess, and identify students with possible communication disorders
- Provide individual and group speech therapy services as required by student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Actively participate in the IEP process, including review and development of speech therapy goals and objectives, as well as recommendation of changes to the IEP
- Document speech and language assessments, services, goals, and progress according to all required standards and regulations
- Deliver trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices
- Engage as an active member of, and provide consultation to, a collaborative treatment and educational team
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Contractor or employee option available
- 11-month position: off for school breaks, such as winter and summer break, and weather-related closings
- Flexible schedule: 3-4 days per week within the hours of 8am-4pm
Eligibility
Required Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an approved college or university
- Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Pathology from ASHA (American Speech/Language and Hearing Association)
- License in Speech Pathology from the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and a certificate as a Speech/Language Pathologist from MSDE
Preferred Education and Experience:
- One year of full-time clinical experience working with children
