The Hun School of Princeton seeks a strategic Director of Annual Giving, is responsible for
securing annual fund support for the School and leads the strategy and messaging for all annual
fund communications and programming. The Director sets the strategic direction for the Hun
Fund, and manages all aspects of a multi-channel annual fund campaign across all
constituencies: alums, current and past parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and students. In
addition, the director is responsible for training and supporting annual fund volunteers and for
soliciting leadership gifts to the Hun Fund. The ideal candidate is a sophisticated fundraiser,
strategic thinker, thoughtful writer, and strong analyzer of data. The Director of Annual Giving is
a 12-month, full-time position, reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer.


Responsibilities include:


● Designing innovative strategies and communications that grow the culture of philanthropy at The Hun School, including increased membership and leadership support from donors at the Red and Black Society level, increasing recurring gifts and
multi-year pledges to the Hun Fund, and overseeing a student-philanthropy program;
● Building a pipeline of donors through successful moves management of a portfolio of select prospects including establishing effective relationships, initiating thoughtful contact, prioritizing follow-up and stewardship;
● Securing annual fund gifts through personal solicitation and pledge fulfillment outreach;
● Coordinating with colleagues on the solicitation of Hun Fund donors who are also leadership gift prospects;
● Synthesizing and analyzing data to inform strategy and maximize results, preparing internal and external reports on trends, metrics, and forecasting;
● Planning and executing the annual day of giving (Raider Giving Day);
● Partnering with the Advancement Services Coordinator and Director of Donor Relations to ensure timely recording and acknowledgement of Hun Fund gifts and for production of the School's annual Report of Giving;
● Collaborating with Marketing and Communications on all Hun Fund communications, including but not limited to; ensuring that the Hun Fund section of the School's website is up to date, solicitations are approved, and social media content is generated for the Hun Fund;
● Recruiting, training, supporting alum and parent volunteers who demonstrate the interest and ability to advance the Hun Fund;
● Managing Russell Loyalty Circle communications and programming ;
● Managing external vendors (Give Campus, Double the Donation) who support the Hun Fund enterprise;
● Maintaining up to date knowledge of new initiatives, best practices, and innovative opportunities in annual giving;
● Managing the Hun Fund budget;
● Attending and assisting with Advancement events and activities;
● Other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.


Key skills:
● 3+ years of fundraising experience, preferably in an independent school or university
setting;
● Excellent organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail;
● Disciplined, results-oriented, self starter demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
● Persuasive communication skills, both in writing and in person, strong relationship
building and customer service skills;
● Ability to be knowledgeable and articulate in stating the Hun School's mission and vision, and the case for support of its fundraising priorities;
● Experience with Raiser's Edge preferred, experience with Finalsite a plus;
● Discretion/ability to handle confidential information;
● Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary;
● Capacity to occasionally work beyond and outside the typical workday, including evenings and weekends.
