Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Staff Accountant will assist with the preparation of tax returns, research tax issues, and support the tax department in various tasks. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, who are eager to gain hands-on experience in tax compliance and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Return Preparation: Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for federal, multi-state, individual and business income tax returns
  • Data Collection: Gather and organize financial data needed for tax filings and audits.
  • Tax Research: Conduct research on various tax issues and regulations to ensure compliance with current laws and to provide support for tax planning strategies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized tax files and documentation.
  • Software Utilization: Use tax software to input data and generate reports.
  • Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Communication: Liaise with other departments to gather necessary information for tax purposes.
  • Audit Support: Help prepare documentation and support for tax audits.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the tax department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of tax principles and accounting practices.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with tax software is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
