Private Chef for an Austin Family

We’re looking for an experienced full-time chef to prepare healthy fresh meals for our family of four at our private residence in Austin. This is a full-time role with a consistent schedule of Mon-Fri 10am-6pm and we provide benefits, including health insurance and paid time off.
We have a busy home with two boys (ages 9 and 12). We’re looking for a chef who is creative in the kitchen, enjoys keeping the menu fresh and nutritious, and works to understand each person’s preferences. Our idea of healthy meals is that all meals have protein and vegetables and are low in starches. If you love making delicious vegetables and proteins and sharing that passion with others, then this will be a great fit
In addition to the chef responsibilities, we’ll need you to pick up our kids from school four afternoons per week (Mon-Thurs). You will also work with our kids directly to work out a menu of healthy meals that they will like. We have one child who is more particular with his palate and working to understand him and establish trust with him is important. He is open to trying new foods when he’s involved in the decision but does not like to be surprised. In general, being able to connect with kids is critical in this role.
We’re a communicative family and work well with someone who is communicative and organized. You’ll also collaborate with our house manager who works a similar schedule Mon-Fri, and our housekeeper who comes in a few times per week.
Responsibilities:
- Culinary: Prepare nutritious meals on time, fresh, and to the highest standards. This will include fresh breakfast and lunch for the adults and fresh dinner for the entire family. For our kids, prepare a breakfast we can “self-serve” to them in the mornings and work with them to pack nutritious school lunches. Before the weekend, cook one breakfast, one lunch on Fridays for us to self-serve and eat over the weekend. Also stock the fridge with fresh fruits and veggies for the weekend.
- Scheduling: Our schedule is pretty routine, but there are times where we need a meal served a little earlier or later depending on the activities that day or need to add a guest to a meal. So the ability to plan around the schedule for the day is important.
- Kitchen Organization, Upkeep, and Inventory: Expertly maintain and manage the kitchen inventory, including grocery shopping, to ensure a well-stocked and organized kitchen and pantry for our needs. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
- Children/Driving: Pick up children from school in afternoons Mon-Thurs.
- Team Player: Work in a coordinated manner as a part of our household team and occasionally assist with miscellaneous errands for the household.
