Technical Manager - Data and DBA Team

Location: On-site (4 days a week) - Oklahoma City, OK

Salary: up to $140,000 base plus bonus


Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead a team of 9 members, including Database Administrators (DBAs), Data Architects, and Data Engineers. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Data Warehousing expertise, along with proven technical management experience. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring your team, overseeing database operations, and ensuring the alignment of data management strategies with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of DBAs and Data Engineers, conducting 1-on-1s, setting goals, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee database design, performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, and security.
  • Develop and implement data management strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to meet business objectives and project deadlines.
  • Provide effective feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and mentor team members.

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive experience in database administration, data modeling, and data management.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with DBMSs such as SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, etc.
  • Knowledge of SOA concepts, data governance, and data security best practices.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall) and leading project teams through all phases of the SDLC.
  • Ability to align data initiatives with business goals and drive results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on technical management experience.
  • Strong technical background in DBA and data management.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing technical teams.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Salesforce Admin certification.
  • SQL knowledge and familiarity with database architecture and management.
  • Strong business acumen and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
