The Total Rewards Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s total rewards strategy, including compensation, benefits, payroll, and recognition programs. This role ensures alignment with business objectives, market competitiveness, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Total Rewards Manager will work closely with senior leadership, HR colleagues, and external vendors to optimize reward programs that drive employee engagement, satisfaction, and performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compensation Management:
    1. Design, implement, and administer competitive compensation structures, including salary bands, incentive plans, and bonus programs.
    2. Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure compensation practices are competitive and equitable.
    3. Oversee job evaluations and salary reviews, ensuring alignment with internal policies and external market trends.
    4. Manage compensation analytics and reporting, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Benefits Administration:
    1. Develop, manage, and communicate benefits programs, including health, retirement, and wellness benefits.
    2. Partner with benefits vendors to negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring high-quality service delivery and cost-efficiency.
    3. Monitor benefits utilization and effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements or changes as necessary.
    4. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to benefits programs.
  • Payroll Management:
    1. Oversee the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, bonuses, and other compensation.
    2. Manage payroll systems and processes, including data entry, calculations, legal, and reporting.
    3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, garnishments, legal, and other deductions.
    4. Coordinate with finance and accounting departments to reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies.
    5. Implement and manage payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • HRIS Management:
    1. Oversee the management and optimization of the HRIS to ensure it supports all total rewards functions effectively.
    2. Collaborate with IT and HR teams to implement, upgrade, and maintain HRIS systems.
    3. Ensure accurate data entry and integrity within the HRIS related to compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee records.
    4. Generate and analyze HRIS reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
    5. Provide training and support to HR staff and other users on HRIS functionalities and best practices.
  • Recognition Programs:
    1. Design and implement employee recognition and reward programs that align with organizational values and goals.
    2. Develop strategies to enhance employee engagement and motivation through effective recognition practices.
    3. Evaluate the effectiveness of recognition programs and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Compliance and Governance:
    1. Ensure all total rewards programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations and laws.
    2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices related to total rewards.
    3. Prepare and present reports on total rewards programs to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership:
    1. Lead and mentor a team of 2 HR professionals who are responsible for benefits and payroll administration, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    2. Collaborate with the HRBP and Talent teams as well as other stakeholders to align total rewards strategies with organizational goals and employee needs.
    3. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on total rewards-related issues.
  • Additional work duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field – or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CCP, CEBS) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Experience in payroll and HRIS management is essential.
  • Strong understanding of compensation principles, benefits administration, payroll management, and HRIS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems, with experience in system implementation and optimization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
