Job Description:

St. Matthew Catholic School is accepting applications for a Middle School Math/Science Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year who will begin in August 2024. The teacher is expected to create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission of St. Matthew School and to work collaboratively with others on the team and school staff to promote the general well-being of each student and the school community.

Education and Experience

* Have a Bachelor's degree AND

* Have PDE Elementary Teacher Certification AND

* Maintain recency-of-credit (six college credits or its equivalent) every five years; AND

* Have experience teaching, preferred; AND

* Have skill with utilizing a variety of effective instructional and classroom management techniques, preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Demonstrate knowledge of and support St. Matthew School mission, vision and value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior

* Demonstrate a working knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used to teach Mathematics and Science instruction for grades 6-8

* Develop and present lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with the Archdiocesean course of study and the PA Standards for Mathematics and Science

* Use a variety of instructional techniques and materials, which are appropriate to meet the needs of all students and understands the value of differentiating instruction

* Organize classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning;

* Assess students' skills for the purpose of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administrations regarding students' progress, expectations and goals

* Participate and collaborate with the middle school teacher team for the purpose of improving students' appreciation and love of Mathematics and Science

* Actively participate in professional development opportunities

* Maintain a high level of awareness regarding research and recent developments on programs that will benefit middle school students

* Conduct regular assessment of student performance and maintain record-keeping through the school's grading system
