Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Credit Specialist assists in the evaluation and management of customer trade credit accounts by ensuring that credit risk and payment performance is properly evaluated and monitored to protect against customer default and optimize cash flow management and profitability. This is a full-time, at will, salaried exempt position.


Key Responsibilities:

•Assist in management of financial exposure and risk during credit extension process and evaluation of credit worthiness and financial stability based on past payment behavior, credit report analysis, and financial statement review

•Leverage ERP-based tools and functionality to maintain oversight of trade credit status

•Evaluate and resolve credit holds and order releases as appropriate, including systematic review of accounts and invoices to determine reasons for non/slow payment

•Ensure proper documentation of account assessments and status reviews within established guidelines

•Assist in coordinating collection efforts with Sales, Order Management, and Accounts Receivable staff to manage exposure and address customer service issues

•Escalate potential customer credit risk or payment issues in a timely manner

•Prepare and issue periodic reports to help identify and resolve payment discrepancies and facilitate proper accounting treatment

•Complete periodic reporting requirements to management of key performance indicators and trends

•Collaborate with Sales and AR teams to maintain integrity and accuracy of customer records

•Maintain strong industry and subject matter knowledge and up-to-date awareness of trends and economic conditions

Requirements:

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

•Bachelor’s degree or significant related work experience

•Demonstrated skill and experience with ERP or similar accounting systems

•Strong attention to detail, time and project management, math ability, and problem-solving skills

•Excellent judgment and ability to apply logic and solid analysis to decision-making

•Ability to constantly learn and adapt and flexibility to integrate and apply new information

•Customer service orientation, professionalism, excellent written and verbal business communication

•Ability to maintain a positive outlook, build relationships with ease, and work well with others to meet shared objectives

•Energetic, positive, and self-motivated; demonstrating initiative and accountability

•Ability to work independently while tracking multiple projects and processes to completion

•Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and ability to quickly learn new processes, procedures, and business systems


Physical Requirements:

•Continuously requires prolonged periods of sitting and using computer keyboard. Consistently requires seeing, hearing, talking, and fine dexterity.
