The Lactation Network is hiring a Software Architect. This person will be essential in designing, building, and improving our software systems.
We are a small, tight-knit, purpose-driven organization with aggressive growth goals in 2024 and beyond. We don’t have all the answers, and we don’t expect you to, either. We do expect you to be curious, hardworking, and strive to be your best self.
Breakdown of the role
- Design new applications and features (35%). The architect will work to ensure best practices and engineering standards are met.
- Cross-systems architecture (35%). The Architect will continuously design and document enterprise-wide architecture, ensuring seamless integration across multiple technology stacks and systems.
- Provide architectural guidance and establish best practices (30%). The architect will be responsible for enforcing best practices and ensuring we deliver quality software in a timely and cost-effective fashion.
What you’ll do
The Software Architect will work with the Lead Architect and architecture team to build terrific products and lay the foundation for rock-solid future development, in an agile environment.
- Document high-level technical solutions using architectural diagrams, data models/ERDs, Service Endpoints, etc., and maintain these throughout the SDLC
- Design applications using a variety of best-in-class patterns, such as Event Service Bus, Broker, Microservices, Service-Oriented architecture, and others
- Ensure enterprise architecture standards are defined and maintained
- Design architectural solutions meeting various objectives for system integration, scalability, security, reliability, data flow and interoperability
- Liaison between business and technical teams
- Communicate complex technical concepts in clear terms to business stakeholders
- Provide high-level effort estimates for solutions
What we expect from you
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software developer in an agile environment
- Minimum of 3 years as an architect
- Experience integrating solutions with various systems
- Proficiency with one or more of the following languages: C#, JavaScript/Typescript
- Expert level proficiency in architecting for the Microsoft Stack
- Experience with developing on one of the major cloud architectures (AWS/Azure)
- Experience architecting microservice-based architectures
- Knowledge of modern Auth mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, etc.
- Experience building out systems with security as a first-class citizen
- Familiarity with at least one CSS framework
- Experience with component-based front-end frameworks like React or Blazor
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency in integrating with various 3rd party systems, including Salesforce, NetSuite, NextGen, etc.
- Familiarity with standard patterns for integration across a variety of systems
- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform work and achieve goals in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Previous experience successfully and effectively architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions and implementing PAAS
- Demonstrated self-starter; strong skills in taking initiative, organization, standing alone, flexing when needed, and dealing with ambiguity
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Listening and internal consulting skills with the ability to guide and influence outcomes
- Demonstrated strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
