Job DescriptionJob Description

A Field Mechanic will repair vehicles, equipment, and machinery by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be prepared to travel
  • Crawls under or climbs in or on vehicles or equipment for maintenance and repair inspections
  • Repairs, removes, and replaces moving parts and other components of vehicles, equipment, or machinery
  • Disassembles, repairs, removes, and replaces parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, and clutches of vehicles, equipment, or machinery
  • Tunes, adjusts, and regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors, and other mechanical components with variable settings
  • Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment, or machinery and maintains accurate records of such service
  • Requests repair parts and lubrication supplies as needed
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety standards
  • When not performing the above-mentioned essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor

Requirements:

  • Certificate from college or technical school; or twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • A good driving record is required.
  • Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and evaluate information using measurable standards
  • Stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
  • Stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • See and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
