SUMMARY:

This position will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with the Food Code and staying updated on regulations. It involves coordinating with the WOW and Sustainability Coordinator to plan menus, plan catering and beverage menus, and manage food preparation and serving during events. Strong organizational skills are essential for providing catering and hospitality services. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring efficient catering operations and increasing clientele.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Oversee kitchen operations, including food prep and customer service.

  • Design and implement a comprehensive catering program from the ground up, including menu development, vendor selection, and operational logistics.

  • Assist in hiring, screening, training, and appreciation of staff and volunteers.

  • Collaborate with Chef and staff on event scheduling.

  • Work with vendors to adjust menus and reduce food waste.

  • Collect customer details (guest numbers, event dates) and plan menus based on preferences and requests.

  • Determine ingredient needs, portion sizes, and track expenses.

  • Manage stock, place orders, and ensure health and safety compliance.

  • Arrange food tastings and work in all kitchen areas as needed.

  • Enhance and market the coffee shop, increase customer base, and drive to see clients.

  • Drive Meals On Wheels routes as needed.

Note: This position is safety-sensitive.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to work various hours needed for catering.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Catering Manager, Restaurant Manager or like experience.

  • Understand food hygiene. Hands-on experience of creating menus.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent customer service.

  • Ability to remain calm, keep a positive attitude, and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Serv Safe Certification

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.

  • Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED COMMUNCIATION/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING SKILLS:

  • Must possess the required level of skills and ability to read, write, speak, and apply mathematical concepts and sound reasoning to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.

  • This position requires problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to multi-task.

  • Must be able to handle stress and stay calm in stressful situations.
