Applicants must be of Native American ancestry to be considered for this position and be able to show proof of a federally recognized CDIB card, per grant requirements.
Position Purpose:
This is a work experience, summer youth seasonal position. They will work as an assistant to the Environmental Department staff. Must be Native American to qualify for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning ponds at fish hatchery and other related tasks.
- Willingness to learn new things, and how to use equipment if necessary.
- Motivated, self-starter, able to carry out required tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Punctual, and maintains good attendance.
- Maintain appropriate files and records accurately.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. College hours with a strong emphasis on science are desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable worker.
- Punctual.
- Willingness to learn.
- Self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision or constant monitoring.
- Great interpersonal skills.
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
Conditions of Employment:
The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.
- May be required to submit to and pass applicable drug tests and background checks.
- Adhere to all work rules, policies & procedures, and safety standards.
Work Requirements:
Position involves prolonged standing, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting, or carrying up to 50 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures.
