Compensation & Incentives:

  • $27.50-$35.50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
  • $2,000 sign on bonus for qualified journeymen.

How you'll contribute to the team:

As a Fire Protection Journeyman working under the direction of a Foreman, you will oversee the preparation, fabrication, and installation of fire sprinkler systems in compliance with relevant codes. This involves cutting and transporting pipes, fittings, and installation equipment, conducting pressure tests on both new and existing systems, sizing systems as necessary, and installing valves and flow switches. Additionally, you will maintain and repair tools and equipment as needed, troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise, promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and cooperation, ensure deadlines are met, and provide guidance to apprentices on a daily basis. Performs additional duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to the table:

Fire Protection Journeyman are proficient at following direction and possess great communication skills. You will be able to work independently and work well with other contractors on the job site. A professional appearance is always expected at Howe. You will also need to possess a valid driver's license to commute to and from job sites as needed.

How you'll qualify:

The ideal Fire Protection Journeyman will have at least 4 years of fire sprinkler-related experience and will demonstrate strong skills and knowledge of the trade. You'll stand out by having any additional licensing or certifications, specifically NICET Certifications, MN or SD Journeyman license, or Iowa Sprinkler Fitter license. Fire Protection Journeyman are expected to obtain additional training and education as required. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.

What to expect in the field:

Working in the Fire Protection industry can be physically demanding. As a Fire Protection Journeyman, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Journeymen must also be able to work at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. If offered a position with the company, you will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
