Position Summary:
- The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely preparation and payment of company payroll. As a part of the accounting or finance team, the Payroll Specialist will provide friendly customer service to all employees and use problem solving skills to resolve any issues.
Location:
- Olathe, KS
Education:
- Requires High School Diploma.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- 1-3 years of payroll experience
- Proficiency in Excel
- Preferred knowledge of multi-state taxation
- Preferred experience using ADP payroll reporting system
- Strong analytical skills for problem definition, solution identification, and implementation of changes
- Comfortable working with personnel at all levels of the business
- Ability to promote and drive continuous improvement
- Ability to handle confidential information
Certification/Licensure:
- At least 21 years old
- Auto Insurance
- Drivers License
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain payroll records, reports, and audits; ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Process payroll for divisions as needed during staff shortages or growth.
- Ensure timesheets meet policy, contract, state, and regulatory requirements.
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using designated systems.
- Review and correct payroll calculations before finalizing.
- Verify accuracy of payroll taxes for state and city requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and business units.
- Provide friendly customer service for employee payroll inquiries.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues across departments.
- Handle garnishments promptly and accurately.
- Manage setup, withholding, and timely payment of taxes.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Assist with month-end reports as required.
