Position Summary: The API Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Web APIs. This role requires a strong foundation in API architecture, design methodologies, and practical experience with various programming languages and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Web API Creation: Design and build high-performance Web APIs using JavaScript, Python, and C#. Deploy APIs on web servers such as IIS, Apache Tomcat, or cloud-based VMs.

  • API Design: Utilize various API design methodologies including REST and SOAP. Ensure data exchange compatibility in multiple formats such as JSON and XML.

  • Microsoft Graph API: Implement Microsoft Graph API, managing API keys/tokens, and Graph API permissions within the Microsoft Azure Portal.

  • Serverless Compute Functions: Develop serverless computing functions using Azure Functions. Utilize languages such as JavaScript, Python, C#, and PowerShell for backend processes based on triggers.

  • Testing: Conduct thorough testing against APIs, ensuring quality and performance. Develop test cases or acceptance criteria for newly created or updated APIs.

  • Governance & Setup: Understand the locations, purposes, and infrastructure of each API within various environments. Maintain comprehensive documentation of APIs including inputs, outputs, and setup details.

  • Database Querying and Components: Efficiently query databases using T-SQL against Microsoft SQL Server. Create and maintain libraries of stored procedures with error handling.

  • Azure Services Management: Manage Azure Services including NIA APIM, Logic Apps, and Cognitive Search. Develop cloud and on-premises integration solutions.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Clearly communicate and collaborate with teams to develop software solutions. Provide feasibility analysis and engage in problem-solving discussions.

  • Troubleshooting & Analysis: Troubleshoot complex technical issues using appropriate tools to debug and analyze data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in API development and management.

  • Skills: Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, C#, T-SQL, and Azure Functions. Familiarity with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and WebAPI protocols.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Azure or API development are a plus.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API and Azure Services.

  • Knowledge of serverless architecture and cloud platforms.

  • Ability to work in an Agile development environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $113,075 to $145,500 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
