Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to recipes and customer preferences
- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate the timing of sushi orders with other menu items
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients into sushi creations
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests and addressing any questions or concerns

Skills
- Strong culinary skills, with a focus on sushi preparation techniques
- Knowledge of different types of fish, seafood, and other ingredients used in sushi dishes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent knife skills for precise cutting and slicing of ingredients
- Experience in menu planning and creating new sushi roll combinations
- Familiarity with bartending techniques for creating specialty cocktails to pair with sushi dishes
- Understanding of food production processes, including proper food handling and storage procedures
- Proficiency in inventory control to ensure adequate stock levels of ingredients
- Ability to work well as part of a team and provide leadership when necessary

Requirements

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Certification from a culinary school is a plus.

Required to obtain ServeSafe Food Handler Managers Level Certification within 60 days of employment.

Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of necessary experience in sushi preparation and food service /food preparation. Knowledge of basic sushi preparation is a plus. Approved food handling training as required by local and state law. A team player with good communication skills, conversational English and basic math or problem-solving ability.

Certification from a Culinary school is a plus.

Technical Skills:
Knowledge on managing food prep activities, like cooking rice. Coordinate with staff to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies.

Non-Technical Skills:
Ability to exercise good judgment. Patience and ability to stay positive under pressure.
