JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL TECHNICIAN – DIRECT SUPPORT PROVIDER
I. Minimum Education/Experience
High School Graduate or GED Certificate required. Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
II. Essential Job Functions
- Always maintain a valid driver’s license and an “acceptable” driving record and be responsible for driving Center vans or other vehicles. Report all traffic citations to the personnel office immediately and in writing.
- Driving Center vehicles is strictly prohibited for anyone under the age of 21.
- Meet personal care needs of each resident including toileting, skin care, bathing, feeding, etc.
- Provide quality supervision and interaction with residents.
- Become Medication Certified and give medications as needed.
- Assist with nursing procedures and treatments as indicated or assigned.
- Assisting and accompanying residents on field trips and other recreational activities.
- Provide and participate in routine and assigned housekeeping duties and to keep the residential area and other training areas neat, clean, and safe.
- Participate, provide, and assist with any programmatic and habilitative services and instructional programs as designated, including grocery shopping and meal preparation. Complete and submit maintenance requests to manager for problem items.
- Serve as "charge" technician if assigned.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Keeping abreast of all necessary safety and precautionary measures to ensure the well-being and safety of the residents.
- Filling out accident/incident reports immediately following an incident, according to expectations.
- Participate in all in-service trainings as required.
- Assess resident needs at least annually or as indicated.
- Complete all CAP documentation (currently Residential and Day support services) according to expectations in a timely manner.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team as required.
- Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
- Perform other related duties as required.
III. Recruitment Standards
- Relate well with residents, family members, and CAP Case Manager.
- Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with families and staff at the residential program and the Center.
- Learn established techniques and procedures related to the residential program.
- Pass basic medication administration that includes bedside nursing skills and training techniques.
- Demonstrate safe, responsible, and productive work with minimal supervision.
- Adequately follow oral and written instructions in performing paraprofessional, technical and therapeutic health care tasks.
- Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
- Must have valid North Carolina driver's license and be insurable by the Center's liability insurance carrier.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Hours/Days of Work (non-exempt)
First shift: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat./Sun. 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Second shift: 3 p.m. to 11p.m. OR Sat./Sun. 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Third shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
