The Role
We are looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician for the plant in Jacksonville, Florida who will ensure the safe and reliable operation of production facilities at the lowest life cycle cost. The Instrumentation and Controls Technician will be responsible for working with preventive/predictive programs and corrective maintenance solutions for instrument systems and equipment in the production facilities. This person will be expected to work independently and make technical decisions and recommendations in the field.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and perform minor configuration changes to PLC control systems.
- Maintain instrumentation/ electrical equipment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, internal preventative maintenance program and applicable regulatory code requirements.
- Assist operations with plant and loading terminal optimization and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support on new projects and designs.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, start-up, and maintenance of new equipment.
- Coordinate and supervise contract maintenance personnel as required.
- Participate in review process for establishing PM intervals for facility equipment.
- Assist in identifying cause of failure and make appropriate recommendations or upgrades.
- Provide input into maintenance/project planning and follow through with execution of plan.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment problems over the phone and in person.
- Respond to afterhours maintenance/operations support calls.
- Maintain operating and maintenance history for all equipment as may be required.
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as work orders, service reports and equipment calibration records as required by I/E CMMS maintenance database system.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain pneumatic and electronic analog and digital process control instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot and repair Predictive program instrumentation and document instrumentation.
- Schedule and perform activities related to the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, control valves, motor control systems, low voltage electrical distribution, computer interfaces, and analytical equipment.
- Ensure spare parts are available or replaced when used/installed.
- Instruct contract personnel on safety rules and regulations and maintain constant surveillance to always assure their compliance.
- Troubleshoot systems utilizing control logic drawings as they relate to process control.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below).
- Process analytical equipment calibration and maintenance which may include Thermal Conductivity, Gas Chromatograph, and Electrolytic process analyzers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or certification in electrical or instrument discipline preferred.
- 4+ years in related field required.
- Must possess a driver's license.
- Willing and able to travel to other locations, in USA.
- Previous experience with computerized maintenance management software systems.

- Ability to read, understand and as built electrical and P&ID drawings.
- Willing to share knowledge and train others.
