Job Title: Development/Marketing Intern

Department: Development

Supervisor: Senior Director of Development

FLSA Status: Part Time (up to 20 Hours)

Summary

The Development/Marketing intern will assist the Whitefoord staff to execute fundraising, social media, and special event activities to gain experience in the field of development and marketing. This is a paid internship position requiring a minimum time commitment of 14 hours per week (flexible schedule) and may be eligible for course credit. May involve some evening or weekend hours on a limited basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute content for social media platforms.
  • Attend and support Whitefoord outreach events.
  • Distribute marketing/fundraising materials to sites around DeKalb and Fulton Counties.
  • Support fundraising functions/events as needed.
  • Help with fundraising data entry and mailings.
  • Conduct research for new projects or marketing ideas.
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Effective communication skills, both in oral and written format.
  • Effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate diplomatically and professionally with a wide variety of constituencies.
  • Desire to be part of an evolving organization and contribute to its growth/reputation.
  • Strong ability to juggle competing, time-sensitive priorities.
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Must be working towards a bachelor or graduate degree in Non-Profit Management, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • May be eligible to receive college credit for internship.
  • Qualified candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable, and interested in developing a career in fundraising, social media, marketing, or non-profit management.
  • Qualified candidates should possess strong writing skills, attention to detail, and have a keen interest in the mission of Whitefoord.
  • Displays digital literacy.
  • Ability to multitask, perform in a team environment, and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Computer Proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (supplies).

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Superior command of speaking and writing skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Knowledge of development and marketing skills, strong verbal and written analytical and interpersonal skill, and the ability to prioritize workload and set goals. Analyzes problems or procedures and decides on a correct course of action when a choice can be made; makes logical and timely decisions; identifies and applies logic and reason to resolution of problems; exhibits flexibility and willingness to learn; deals professionally with unexpected situations.
