JOB TITLE: LAWN CARE TECHNICIAN

LOCATION: GALVESTON / BRAZORIA COUNTIES

FLSA: NON-EXEMPT HOURLY

WORKING STATUS: FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS

TYPICAL WORK HOURS: 8AM – 5PM

SUMMARY

The facility lawn care technician will be responsible for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of facility equipment, repair & installation of facility equipment, building maintenance, and facility lawn care services. Will assist with porter duties

REQUIRED JOB DUTIES, ABILITIES, TRAITS

  • Ability to evaluate building maintenance and lawn care needs and respond immediately
  • Accurately determine maintenance and lawn care needs
  • Adherence to all GCTD policies and procedures
  • Attend all transportation and staff meetings as required, prepare agendas and any reports needed
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair GCTD facilities.
  • Interpret and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations of assigned programs and functions
  • Keep supervisor informed of concerns related to the job
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to include an inventory of parts and supplies on hand to repair facility equipment and lawn maintenance equipment
  • Maintaining facilities and equipment as required by GCTD, DOT, FMCSA, Texas DOT, and all federal, state, county, and city law enforcement standards
  • Make periodic inspections of facilities equipment and lawn care equipment to assure compliance with safety practices and procedures
  • Operate building maintenance equipment and lawn care equipment
  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on electric equipment, writing, and heating/cooling systems
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on facility equipment and lawn care equipment
  • Perform work in adherence to compliant, safe work practices and procedures
  • Remain current on all laws about safe maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Respond to requests for information by the required deadline, monitor system needs, and submit related requests for personnel, equipment, and services
  • Respond to requests for presentations promptly or as required by the executive director and or director of assets and operations
  • Responds to calls from directors of managers to repair facility, facility equipment, or maintain lawn care as needed
  • Responsible for technical, clerical, and related administrative duties in the assigned work area
  • Test all maintenance repairs after work has been completed and follow up on repairs regarding all facility maintenance to ensure accuracy
  • Troubleshoot maintenance, mechanical, or electrical problems promptly
  • Will be responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the GCTD policies and procedures and will require communication with various departments and co-workers to foster, develop and continue our community partnerships as it relates to the position

SUPERVISION

  • Receives direct supervision from the Safety Manager

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma, GED, or extensive experience in lieu of education will be evaluated as it relates to the position. Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Building maintenance and lawn care experience
  • English proficiency
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of maintenance and lawn care equipment, maintenance procedures, and OSHA laws
  • Knowledge of operational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of recycling and disposing of hazardous waste
  • Preventive maintenance related to lawn care equipment and building maintenance
  • Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines
  • Safe driving principles and practices
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills

REQUIRED LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS

  • At minimum active and valid vehicle liability insurance
  • No more than 3 moving or safety violations within the past 3 years
  • Requires an active and valid Texas driver’s license

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Any education or experience above the required education and job duties of the position are preferred and will be evaluated as it relates to experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May be required to perform machine and maintenance repairs or other duties depending upon the situation
  • May require travel to various locations within Brazoria and Galveston Counties
  • Operation of a communications device to contact appropriate parties during emergencies
  • Out of region travel may be required to attend training
  • Work hours will be assigned based on GCTD business needs and may include varied work hours, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, mornings, evenings, split shifts, and overtime
  • Work will be performed in the office, field, and or remote settings

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Assist managers and directors when requested to complete special projects and complete all assignments within a negotiated time frame
  • Completion of other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the program and position
